Climate Ambassador's Report

Dear friends,

We are pleased to be writing with an update from ACWW Central Office.  We hope that you are all well, and staying safe in this challenging time. This update includes 3 things:

1.     The Countrywoman Magazine

2.     A public statement from World President Magdie de Kock for the International Day of Families

3.     ACWW's second Covid-19 impact survey

The Countrywoman magazine
For many members, their quarterly copy of The Countrywoman magazine is a hugely important part of their membership of ACWW.  We couldn't agree more and, with the current lockdown procedures in place and the closure of ACWW Central Office meaning that we can't print, post, and distribute the magazine, we were determined that you all received it nonetheless. In March 2020 the Communications and Marketing Committee proposed to the Executive Committee that 2020's Issues 2 and 3 be produced in a digital format and sent out to members as a PDF. This was approved, and for the first time ever we are pleased to send out a digital version of our magazine as its primary distribution method. You can read it online, or print it out at home to read on paper!  Please click on this link to download Issue 2 of 2020: THE COUNTRYWOMAN

Please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues, and why not encourage them to join ACWW at the same time?

International Day of Families
Each year, 15 May is celebrated as the International Day of Families.  We are pleased to attach a public statement from World President Magdie de Kock which calls on governments to remember their critical obligations to rural women and families in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, and the reality of the simultaneous and increasing pandemic of domestic violence. To download the statement, please visit our website using this link: International Day of Families.  You can also find other ACWW public statements here: Statements

Covid-19 Impact Survey
Two weeks ago ACWW launched its first survey to gather information about the impact of Covid-19 on rural women and their communities. More than 500 responses were received, which is a great start. If you took part in this survey, thank you! We are now launching the second survey, and this will be repeated every 2 weeks so we can guage changes in impact around the world. Please do take part (especially if you took the first one). You can also share this with other women, even if they're not ACWW members. Please click here to take the survey: ACWW Covid-19 Impact Survey #2

We hope that you will find this update helpful, and please do not hesitate to contact ACWW Central Office if you have any questions or need assistance. Although the office is closed, all staff are working from home and remain committed to achieving all that is possible for ACWW in this difficult time. Please do stay safe and well, and follow local guidelines to maintain your safety. With best wishes from all of us

The Events Committee work hard to produce a full calendar of events for the enjoyment of Members and Non-Members throughout the year.

Current events are shown on the separate "Events" page and Booking Forms are available on the "Booking Forms" page.

Your Federation Membership and Support Team exists to help WIs in Dorset be the best they can.  WI Advisers (WIAs) love to help new WIs to form, like to help all WIs with queries and concerns about the way they run (such as holding Annual Meetings), and help a few through the bad times, such as having to suspend.  This work is done through visits, telephone and e-mail communications, and through workshop days and meetings.

Everyone can make a difference - this is your chance!  Seemingly small things will make a big difference.  Especially if we all play a part.

We are launching a major campaign in March to help halt Climate Change and save our planet for future generations.

We need Climate Change Sponsors in every WI.  Please volunteer. There are two Climate Ambassadors in place ready to give you support. There will be a meeting at County House for all the Climate Change sponsors where you can meet each other, hear plans for the campaign and swap ideas.

Climate Ambassadors Carol Brown and Mary Morris are looking forward to meeting you!
