About Us
Broadmayne and West Knighton Women’s Institute
Welcome to our WI!
Broadmayne and West Knighton WI meet every second Thursday in the month (except August). We are a group of ladies who are interested in just about everything. Our ages range from those who are no longer in the first flush of youth to much younger members – all equally vocal! If your idea of a WI is a group of solemn ladies dressed in brown with hats on – then think again! Although some of us might have brown clothes and hats, we certainly don’t wear them to the meetings. We come along to chat, to laugh, and to have a jolly good time. We usually have a speaker, and the subjects range from travel to food, from animals – even alpacas – to antiques, from local history to gardening. In addition to our monthly meetings, we also meet up to walk, and lunch, have outings and evening meals. We have a lively garden group and in the winter this transforms itself into a craft group. We share many ideas, skills and experiences and are constantly learning from each other. So we have pretty much everything covered.
We always welcome new members. Why not come along and see whether our WI is for you? You may attend two meetings entirely without charge – we’ll even give you a cup of coffee and a biscuit (and on a good month, a glass of wine!) Then you can decide whether we are just what you have been looking for. You’ve got nothing to lose really, and we are very friendly.

Our Logo
The logo for our WI was designed and drawn by member Sandra O'Hara. It represents the avenue of trees in Osmington Drove, next to the village hall in Broadmayne where we have our monthly meetings.
