About The Group

At present Southbourne WI meets every third Wednesday of the month  at 11 am to 1pm.

We meet in All Saints Church Hall, which is on the corner of Oxford Ave / Castlemain Ave (BH6 5EH) in Southbourne.            The Hall has a ground floor ramp entrance, wheelchair platform lift and accessible toilet facilities.

We are a medium sized group and are very active. Our meeting usually begins with the singing of Jerusalem followed by the formal part of the session when business is discussed. We offer competitions, sales table and either welcome a speaker to talk to us on various matters of interest or hold  craft or games mornings such as curling, beetle drive and, on occasions, have been known to catch ping pong balls in bras pinned to the wall (the bras not the person!). Take a look at our programme page to see the list of Speakers and events for the coming year.

Each month we also offer groups such as book club, walking, knitting and craft group. We also have coffee mornings once a month and occasionally meet for lunch and meet at the cinema to enjoy a film with friends. We join with other WI's in our area for special occasions such as festive get togethers, fetes and parties. Members pick and choose what they want to take part in, if anything.

The ethos of the WI is to empower women everywhere and we are working Nationwide with current WI campaigns. At our WI we have worked to knit red Beanie hats for premature babies, twiddle mitts for dementia patients and have donated to the RBH appeal for money towards the new scanner.

On the whole we are a mature group of ladies but warmly welcome any lady who would like to join us.

Please contact our secretary for any further information.  Hoping to see you soon!
