About Us
WELCOME TO SWANAGE WI
Swanage WI was formed in January 2020 and now has 80 members. We are a friendly group with many members relatively new to Swanage. Being a WI member is a great way to make new friends locally and maybe try some new activities
We meet at The Centre, 7 Chapel Lane, Swanage on the first Tuesday of every month except January at 7.30pm. We try to provide a varied programme of speakers and activities arranged by our Social Team, and there is always some social time at each meeting.
In addition to our monthly meetings, there are a number of events and groups that members can sign up to. These may incur an additional cost and may be subject to change.
The Dorset Federation also arranges a varied programme of events and there are opportunities for many interests. Maybe you would like to learn to crochet, try paddle boarding or visit a stately home. The WI provides members with many opportunities in the company of like minded others.
The WI has a long history of campaigning and each year at the National Federation WI a resolution chosen by members is put forward for debate and if the membership votes in favour then this becomes a mandate that will be worked on both locally and nationally.
At the moment we have reached membership capacity, but there is a another WI opening in Swanage. Purbeck WI will open in June 2024. Meetings will take place on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7.30pm at Herston Village Hall, Jubilee Road, Swanage. Visitors welcome.
